Back up your library

If the Media Browser isn't showing your photos and videos

I had started another thread here https://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=140777 but now have found this one which seems to cover the problems I'm having too - namely Photoshop CS won't recognise my CR2 files. Sorry for the cross-posting.....
Does someone have the fix for this - I can't get the Camera Raw 2.x updates mentioned above - the latest version is 3.3 and Adobe's site says this is not compatible with CS ??
I see 'Bridge' mentioned but can find no reference to this in my copy of CS either. I do note there is a download for this on the Adobe site (ver 1.0.3) but I don't know if this is necessary either?
Perhaps someone who is succesfuly manipulating 20D CR2 files in CS could explain the correct procedure to make this work - i.e. which versions of which files we need to have and where they should be stored??
I am using a Mac (OSX 10.3.9) if this makes any difference.
